Calendars

See your appointments inside ClientTether, connect them to Google Calendar, and understand exactly which edits travel between the two.

1How calendars work

Every user in an account has their own calendar, holding the appointments booked against their contacts. Inside ClientTether you may also be able to see other users’ calendars, depending on your role — useful when you’re scheduling on behalf of a team.

Appointments aren’t standalone events: each one belongs to a contact. That’s why editing an appointment starts from the contact’s profile rather than from a calendar grid.

2Where to see your calendar

The same appointments show up in three places:

  • The Calendar page in ClientTether — the full view, including other users’ calendars if your role allows.
  • The Contact Profile — the appointments for that one person, in context.
  • Your Google Calendar, once you’ve connected it.

3Connecting Google Calendar

Google Calendar is the calendar ClientTether connects to. To set it up:

  1. Go to the Calendar page in ClientTether.
  2. Click Sync With Google Calendar.
  3. Choose the Google account you want to connect.
  4. Follow the remaining prompts from Google to grant access.

Only your own calendar syncs

Inside ClientTether you might see several users’ calendars. The Google sync only ever carries yours. If a teammate’s appointments aren’t showing up in your Google Calendar, that’s expected behaviour, not a broken sync — each person connects their own.

4Which edits travel between the two

The sync is not symmetrical, and this is where most confusion starts. Editing in ClientTether behaves differently from editing in Google.

Editing in ClientTether

Open the contact the appointment belongs to and edit it there. Changes made in ClientTether are reflected in Google Calendar.

Editing in Google Calendar

Only some changes travel back the other way.

Comes back into ClientTether

  • Date changes
  • Time changes
  • New events you create directly in Google

Does not come back

  • Notes — edit them in ClientTether, where they live.
  • Deleting an event that originated in ClientTether — blocked on purpose.

Why deletion is blocked

It’s a safeguard. An appointment in ClientTether is attached to a contact and may have action plan steps hanging off it. If a stray deletion in Google could silently remove it, you’d lose that history with no trace. To cancel an appointment properly, delete it in ClientTether — that change does flow out to Google.

5Disconnecting the sync

The connection isn’t permanent. From the same Calendar page you can unsync Google Calendar — useful when you switch Google accounts, hand a laptop over, or simply want appointments to stop appearing in a personal calendar.

After disconnecting, ClientTether keeps every appointment. Only the link to Google stops; nothing is deleted on either side.

6Troubleshooting

My teammate’s appointments aren’t in my Google Calendar

Expected. The sync only carries your own calendar. Each user connects their own Google account.

I changed the notes in Google and ClientTether didn’t update

Notes don’t sync back. Edit them on the appointment inside ClientTether.

I can’t delete a ClientTether appointment from Google

That’s the safeguard described above. Delete it in ClientTether instead, and Google will follow.

I connected the wrong Google account

Unsync from the Calendar page, then run Sync With Google Calendar again and pick the right account.

  • Contact Profile — where appointments are created and edited.
  • Action Plans — sequences that can be anchored to an appointment date.
