Linking Contacts
Record how contacts relate — referrer and referred, owner and property, parent and child — without merging them.

1What linking does
Real customers come attached to other people: the tenant and the landlord, the referrer and the referred, the parent company and its branches. Link Contacts records those relationships between two contact records, so opening one shows you the other.
It isn’t the same as opportunities (several deals for one person) or merging (two records that are the same person). Linking keeps both records separate and says how they relate.
2Linking two contacts
- Open a contact’s profile and scroll to Link Contacts at the bottom.
- Choose a relation from the dropdown. Relations come in pairs — one for each direction — so picking “Referred By” on this contact records “Referred” on the other. Typical pairs are Parent to / Child of, Owns / Is Owned by, Referred / Referred By.
- Search for the other contact by name and select it.
- Confirm. Both profiles now show the link, under Linked To and Linked By.
3Seeing relationships
Each profile lists what it’s linked to and what links to it, with the relation named and the other contact one click away. Remove a link from either side when it no longer applies.
Referrals are the obvious win
Link every referred contact back to whoever sent them. Six months later you can open a customer and see, in one place, how much business they’ve actually generated.
4Troubleshooting
The relation I want isn’t in the list
Relation types are configured for the account. Ask an Admin to add the pair you need.
I linked the wrong contacts
Remove the link from either profile; nothing else changes on either record.
