Notifications

How ClientTether tells you something happened — a reply, a new lead, a failed send, a duplicate — and how to decide what reaches you and how.

1The notification feed

Your notifications collect in one feed, newest first. Each one links to the contact it’s about, so the feed doubles as a to-do list: open it, work through what’s new, and jump into each record from the notification itself.

Once you’ve dealt with something, Archive it to clear it from view. If the feed has built up, Archive in Mass clears a batch at once. Archived items aren’t deleted — the Archives view keeps them if you need to look back.

2What you’ll be notified about

Notifications cover the moments where something changed and a person might need to react:

NotificationWhen it fires
TextA contact replied by SMS
EmailA contact replied by email
VoicemailA voicemail was left — the notification includes playback
New leadA lead arrived, typically through a lead source’s web key
ParserAn inbound email was parsed into a lead or an update
ProposalActivity on a proposal — viewed, signed, paid
ReviewReview-request activity
Assigned userA contact was assigned to you, or an assignment changed
Duplicate detectedA new record looks like an existing one — see below
Report readyA report you requested has finished generating and is ready to download
Mass action completeA bulk release or bulk reassignment of contacts has finished

Action Plans add to this list: a Webhook step that fails to send raises a notification, and any step can be set to notify when it fires.

3Notifications you can act on

Some notifications aren’t just information — they carry a decision.

Duplicate contact

When a new record looks like an existing contact, the notification lets you Compare the two side by side, then Accept the new record or Decline it — straight from the feed, without opening either contact. Resolving duplicates here, as they arrive, is far easier than cleaning them up in bulk later.

Voicemail notifications play the recording in place, and report notifications carry the download link, so those don’t need a detour either.

4Choosing what reaches you

Under Settings → Notifications you control, per event, how it reaches you:

  • System — it appears in the in-app feed
  • Email — it’s also emailed to the assigned user
  • Text — it’s also sent as an SMS to the assigned user

“Assigned user” is the key phrase: email and text delivery go to whoever is assigned to the contact the notification is about, so the right person is interrupted rather than everyone.

Set it up once, copy it everywhere

If you manage several accounts, Copy/Overwrite Notification Setting pushes one account’s notification configuration onto others. Configure one account carefully, then copy it, rather than repeating thirty toggles per location.

Text notifications cost attention — ration them

Turning on SMS delivery for every event trains people to ignore the phone. Reserve text for the handful of events that genuinely need a fast human response — a reply from a hot lead, a failed send — and let the rest live in the feed.

5On your phone

The mobile app receives push notifications and shows the same feed. Swipe an item to archive it; tap it to open the contact. Push registration happens when you sign in, so if pushes stop arriving, signing out and back in re-registers the device.

6Troubleshooting

I’m not getting emails or texts for an event

Check two things: that the event has email or text enabled in Settings → Notifications, and that you’re the assigned user on the contacts in question — delivery follows assignment, not just membership of the account.

The feed is overwhelming

Archive in Mass to clear the backlog, then go to Settings and turn off the feed for events you never act on. Fewer, meaningful notifications beat a wall of noise.

An Action Plan step didn’t notify me

Notification is a per-step option inside the plan. Open the step and confirm the notify option is switched on.
