1A chatbot that knows your business

A Private AI Chatbot is a hosted page that answers visitors’ questions and captures them as contacts. “Private” is the important word: it’s configured for your account with your own prompt, rather than being a generic assistant.

2Setting one up

With the AI chatbot add-on enabled, create a hosted page with the type set to Private AI Chatbot. The settings are:

SettingWhat it does
Bot-IDIdentifies the bot configured for your account.
ModelWhich AI model answers.
Initial PromptThe instructions the bot works from — who it is, what it knows, what it must never say, and what it should collect.
TemperatureHow much the wording varies. Low keeps answers consistent and predictable; high makes them more conversational and less reliable.
Lead source, sales cycle, action planWhat a captured contact gets, exactly as on a lead form.

3Writing the prompt

The prompt is where the quality lives. A workable one covers five things:

  • Role — who the bot is and which business it speaks for.
  • Scope — what it may answer, and an instruction to hand over rather than guess outside it.
  • Facts — your services, service area, hours, and anything it must get right.
  • Goal — what it’s trying to achieve: a booking, a phone number, an answered question.
  • Tone and limits — how it should sound, and what it must never do (quote prices, promise dates, discuss competitors).

A bot that guesses costs you a customer

Be explicit that it should say it doesn’t know and offer a person, rather than inventing an answer. Test it with the awkward questions your team actually gets before it goes on the site.

4Testing before launch

Accounts that commissioned a ChatTool also get a Chat Tool Test Page, activated by ClientTether’s engineer, for trying the bot before it’s live on your website.
