Where to sign in, what you’ll see depending on your account, how to move between sub-accounts, and what to do when you can’t get in.

1Where to sign in

You can start from the ClientTether website and click the login button, which takes you to the ClientTether login screen.

Skip a step — bookmark this

Go straight to ct.clienttether.com and save it. That’s the direct address for the application, and it saves a hop through the marketing site every morning.

2Where you land

After signing in you arrive at one of two screens, and which one tells you what kind of account you’re in:

You land onThat meansWhat you can do from there
Accounts screen You’re in a Multi-Level Account See every account beneath you, and drop into any of them
Client List screen You’re in a single-level account Work your contacts directly — there’s nothing nested below you

What you can do once you’re in also depends on your user role. ClientTether distinguishes between Admin, Standard and Salesperson users, and several areas of the product — account settings, integrations, webhooks — are visible only to higher-level roles. If a menu someone else describes isn’t on your screen, your role is the first thing to check.

3Moving between sub-accounts

If you’re in a multi-level account, you don’t need separate credentials for each account below you. On the Accounts List Page, every active account has a Login button that drops you straight into it.

No Login button on an account?

That account has been deactivated. The button only appears on active accounts. Reactivate it from the same Actions menu and the button comes back.

4Forgot username or password

From time to time we all forget things. Use Forgot Username or Forgot Password on the login screen.

Enter the email address tied to your account or your user, and the system sends you a link to reset your password.

The reset email never arrives

Two things to check before contacting support. First, the spam folder. Second — and this is the common one — make sure you used the address that’s actually on your ClientTether user, not a personal address that was never added to the account. The system can only send to an address it knows.

5Passwords, expiry and verification codes

ClientTether applies the same security rules to every web login. Knowing them saves a support ticket when the system asks you for something unexpected.

RuleWhat happens
First sign-inA new user is taken straight to a password-reset screen and must choose their own password before reaching the app.
Password strengthAt least 6 characters, with at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number and one special character. Passwords that don’t meet this are refused with a message saying why.
No reuseA new password can’t match any of your last 5 passwords.
Periodic resetPasswords expire after 180 days by default. An Enterprise account can set a different interval for every account beneath it. When yours has expired you’re sent to the reset screen the next time you sign in.
Email verification codeOn the same interval, signing in also asks for a 7-digit code that ClientTether emails to the address on your user. The code is valid for 10 minutes.
Failed attemptsAfter more than 5 wrong passwords in a row the login form adds a reCAPTCHA and disables the button until you complete it. A successful sign-in resets the counter.

The mobile app has its own rule

The ClientTether Mobile App asks for a new password every 90 days regardless of the web interval.

6Troubleshooting

“Action is not allowed as account is Deactivated”

You’re working inside an account that has been taken offline. Deactivated accounts are frozen — you can’t log into them or change anything in them. Reactivate the account from the Accounts List Page first. Note that a deactivated account is permanently deleted after 10 days, so don’t sit on this one.

I can sign in, but half the menus are missing

That’s almost always your user role rather than a fault. Admin-level areas — settings, integrations, webhook configuration — are hidden from standard and salesperson users. Ask an admin on your account to check your role.

I’m in the wrong account

If you have a multi-level account, you may have dropped into a sub-account earlier and stayed there. Return to the Accounts screen and use the Login button on the account you actually want.

I’ve been asked to reset my password again

That’s the periodic reset described above — 180 days unless your Enterprise account set a different interval. It isn’t a fault with your login; choose a new password (not one of your last five) and carry on.

I got a “verification code” email I didn’t expect

The code is part of the periodic check on your login, and it’s only ever sent when someone enters your correct username and password. Enter it within 10 minutes. If you weren’t the one signing in, change your password immediately.

The login button is greyed out

More than 5 failed attempts add a reCAPTCHA to the form. Complete it and the button comes back.
