Google Sheets
Three ways to get ClientTether data into a spreadsheet, one way to get a spreadsheet back in, and why exports need care.
1ClientTether data in a spreadsheet
Sometimes the answer really is a spreadsheet — a board pack, a model, a list to hand someone outside the business. There are three ways to get ClientTether data into Google Sheets, and the right one depends on how often you need it.
2The three routes
| Route | Best for |
|---|---|
| Export | A one-off. Filter the Contacts List, press Export, choose your fields, open the file in Sheets. Nothing to set up. |
| Dashboard report downloads | Numbers rather than records — most Dashboard charts have a Download Report or Download CSV button that reflects the filters on screen. See Dashboard. |
| Zapier | A sheet that keeps itself up to date — a Zap can add a row for each new contact or event. See Zapier. |
3Going the other way
To bring a spreadsheet into ClientTether, don’t paste it in — use the import template, which validates every row. See Importing Contacts, and Mass Updating Contacts for changing records you already have.
An export is a copy of your customer list
Once it’s in a spreadsheet it’s outside ClientTether’s permissions entirely. That’s why exporting is restricted per user type in Enterprise Settings — keep it that way, and don’t leave exports in shared drives.
